The graduate program in 生态 和 进化生物学—a concentration in the 生物科学 graduate programs—brings together researchers 和 students interested in biodiversity research. This includes the hierarchy of biological organization, from genes to species to ecosystems. Investigations are wide ranging 和 encompass all manner of biological pattern 和 process. Examples include studies of organismal structure 和 function, natural 和 sexual selection, 适应, 行为, evolutionary genetics, 种群生物学, 团体动力学, 物种的形成, 系统发生学, 保护生物学, 古生物学, 和 the history of life on earth.

The 生态 和 进化生物学 graduate program combines faculty from the departments of 生物科学 和 Biomedical Sciences. This program is part of the Ohio Center for 生态 & 进化的研究, which is an integrative collection of ecology 和 evolutionary biology faculty 和 students assembled from diverse departments 和 colleges across campus.

Students entering this program can pursue a master's or doctoral degree. A vital component of a student's training is interaction 和 collaboration. Students entering the 生态 和 进化生物学 concentration should thus consider themselves colleagues in the EEB focus group 和 take an active role in the program. The student's adviser will help in the formulation of a thesis or dissertation project, but the student is expected to take a lead role in identifying a topic appropriate for research.

A Master of Science in 环境 Studies is available as an interdisciplinary program of graduate coursework 和 research, located in the George V. Voinovich School of Leadership 和 Public Service. The program is developed around five areas of concentration: life sciences, physical 和 earth sciences, environmental archaeology, environmental policy 和 planning, or environmental monitoring.

The 研究生 Certificate in Conservation 生物学 offers an interdisciplinary graduate 保护生物学 certificate. This program encourages a multifaceted underst和ing of the factors affecting the conservation of biological diversity. It is centered in the 生物科学 Department, but includes faculty members from the departments of 环境 & 植物生物学, 经济学, 地理,政治科学. Students enrolled in any master's or doctoral program at newbb电子平台 are eligible to apply for the certificate. Each application for the certificate program is reviewed by an oversight committee composed of three faculty representatives from participating departments. Each student in the program chooses a certificate adviser to oversee the completion of requirements.
